Hi all - I've surmised from some posts on this board that alcohol is cheap in the VI? is this true? By alcohol I mean vodka, tequila, beer, wine, etc (not just rum). I was considering bringing booze from home (mainland US) thinking it would be expensive on the island. Please let me know! I leave tomorrow!
thx, Lisa
Yes, Duty Free Zone here in the USVI. I always find the best prices at K-Mart. You will be allowed 5 bottles each person, six if one of the bottles is a local CRUZAN Rum bottle.
Cheap 🙂

Most places in the shopping areas have Cruzan (full liters, not 750ml) 3 for $20. I could kick myself in the a$$ for not buying some Grand Marnier while there. 750ml is $35 here, and I think a full liter is $25 on STT. stupid stupid stupid
altho, it may have been one of the ones broken when I returned and that would have REALLY ticked me off.
Not so much wine and tequila.
We bought 12 bottles at K-Mart in 2005. 3 of them were Cruzan rum (Which I think was $3/ bottle) the rest were a mixture of Absolut, Gin, Myers Dark Rum, Bailey's, etc. We spent about $90. The most expensive was $9.
