Has anyone used this rental agency before? My 1st time with this company. I'm waiting for a confirmation number, as I paid in full for our jeep, prior to our arrival. I spoke with someone at their office who acknowledged that there is a zero balance, but have yet to receive any confirmation. Suggestions..? We land the 19th, and I'm trying to tie up any loose ends..

I highly doubt you will receive a confirmation number. The cool breeze office is only big enough for 2 people and I would doubt that they have a sophisticated computer system, more like a book and a pen.

Just call and tell them that you want to be sure you are all set for X date arriving at X time.

It is refreshing that there are still places on earth that are not completely engulfed in technology.

I'm pretty confident about the whole thing, I guess, Xislandgirl. You're right about the engulfing technology stuff. I got a verbal confirmation, so hopefully that'll stick. It's just that I'm kind of responsible for our party of four, so I'm more than just a little concerned. Thanks for the input-

Is this your first time down there?

If it is, just realize that everything works about 30-50 years behind - which can be refreshing, but disconcerting to people used to the way the US and (to a somewhat lesser extent) Europe operate.

If they gave you a verbal, you are probably good to go and that would be fine with me. Remember, that many of these rental agencies don't even bother meeting you if you arrive late - the keys are left in your vehicle and you can check in the next morning.

It's a different world down there and that is why we go.

Tell your party to relax and roll with the punches. You will most probably be fine and I wouldn't be worried at all with a verbal.

FWIW - We are renting from them around the same time and it's through Mcglaughlin Anderson. I don't thing MA would trust them with their clients if they weren't a stand up business. We have 2 of the biggest villas on the island for a large wedding and that's who they used, so I feel comfortable.

A lot of visitors are uncomfortable with some of the business practices on STJ. They run on trust and honor. They're trusting that you'll actually show up and rent the vehicle that they're holding for you. They're willing to take a chance and trust you.

Dallasm5-
I've been to STJ every year since '01. I'm quite familiar with how most things work there. As I said, it's my first time with this particular rental company. Every other year went off without a hitch, and I was curious if anyone had gone through what I'm going through now.. I feel better about it after your post, so thanks.
-Way to go on the 2 huge villa rentals, by the way.
