Friends of ours will be staying at Cruz Views condos (unit #6) 7/15-7/22. I've heard there is construction in the vicinity (as is in many areas around Cruz Bay). Does anyone have comments regarding construction specific to Cruz Views? Anyone say there recently? Inquiring minds... Thanks in advance 🙂

There is an extremely large condominium project (Sirenusa) being constructed close to Cruz Views. I can't say anything about the noise, because I am never in that area when the construction is going on, but yes, there is a large construction project very close by. At town meetings on St. John, residents in that area have complained about the large construction trucks tearing up and down the road and using their driveways to turn around.

Sorry, I take back everything I said! I always get Cruz Views confused with Serendip, so nothing I said is applicable. Sorry for any confusion. 🙁

Whew! I'm so glad! I know Sirenusa is HUGE, so I'd imagine the noise is substantial. Wasn't the construction stopped a few weeks back due to unapproved plans/plans modified without approval?

Construction was stopped on two buildings that violated code, but construction on the other buildings continues...

Bummer! Sienusa seems like too big a place for Cruz Bay/STJ. Hate to see this happen!

OK...I'm confused. We're staying at Peace O Heaven (formerly Pocket Money) in August. It's across the street from Cruz Views. I have heard about the work being done on the next hill over from Cruz Views.

So...it's not this Sirenusa thing? What is being built on the next hill over? I've heard tha tit's condos, but VIVA assures me the worst of the noise is over...then again, what would they say "Heck yea...it's so loud you'll cry!"??? Didn't think so...

Every time I stop being nervous about the potential for a lot of noise...I read something like this.

I'm not sure either. Our friends were told that there was "some construction nearby" when they made their reservation. I decided to throw the question out on the boards to see if I could get more information for them. I feel better hearing from you that VIVA says the worst of it is over, but that's really all I know so far.

Thankfully Sirenusa isn't terribly close to Cruz Views, so the noise from that project shouldn't be a big factor.

Anyone know what's going up near Cruz Views/Peace O Heaven?

I stayed at Cruz Views in May and the construction noise was not a problem for us.

It is Sirenusa that is going up over the hill from Cruz Views, but I imagine the noise would not be that bad.

Okay, so it is Sirenusa, which is closer to Serendip than Cruz Views. It sounds as though the construction would more apparent to locations on the south side of Cruz Bay (heading toward Great Cruz bay). Andrea, would you agree?

You know...the way things are going (spending more time on the road for work than at home), they could build a condo on my head and I wouldn't care as long as I was on St John at the time.

Thanks for the info everyone

I will agree with caution...if you are coming up Centerline Road from town, you can see both the road leading up to Cruz Views and Sirenusa. I'm not sure which direction the noise would travel. Sirenusa is by all means closer and more of a nuisance in the Serendip area. On a side note, some locals here call the project "Sirenuisance" 🙂

Okay - I think I have a pretty good visual in my head of the location of "Sirenuisance". I'll relay the info to our friends. Thanks Andrea!

2 weeks and counting!!!

Hi, we just got back from Cruz Views #7, and the construction noise was unbelievable...jackhammers at 6:45 in the morning, trucks, dynamite, etc. all day even on Sunday! We are really tolerant travelers but after 2 days we moved. Cruz Views was OK, don't know if you've stayed there before but the units are downright tiny, and some are pretty outdated. #7 was cute, if not for the construction it would have been a good value. Good luck!

Yikes! I'm actually not going to be staying there, but my friends are - not sure whether I should tell them about this or not. No wonder they got a good price for the week.

Ugh...here we go again. If the noise at CV is as bad as reported above, then it's likely to be loud over at Peace O'Heaven. I'm going to have to call VIVA at this point and get the scoop from them.

Allow me to update myself...

I just spoke to VIVA and they told me that people staying at PoH have commented on the noise but not complained...more that it's in the background. The guy on the phone did indicate that CV would be more prone to the noise based on (his words) "the lay of the land". So...what does that maen? I have no idea.

Thanks

I hope it's not as bad as all that, but it isn't sounding too good 🙁 I'll let my friends know - they can decide what to do about it.
Thank you all for the information.
