I am still trying to decide if I should take my 13 year old daughter to SJ by myself. We have been several times as a family, but while my husband and older daughter travel around this summer with tournament softball, I thought it would be fun to spend a couple of weeks in SJ with my youngest.

I'm alittle nervous about the idea as I have never ventured that far away from home by myself. I am interested in any opinions about renting a condo or bed and breakfast in Cruz Bay that is safe, easy walking distance to town, restaurants, grocery store and would be in a safe location at night. I really do want ac as it helps keep the mosquitoes at bay. When I'm on SJ no one else should get a bite as they are all busy feeding on me.

Thanks for any info.

Hello Deb,

For a guesthouse you might look at: http://www.hillcreststjohn.com
Its a short walk to town, very friendly owner.

I don't think you will have a problem traveling alone with your daughter. Sounds like some good quality time!

Islander,

I am also looking at Estate Lindholm and Lavender Hill. Any thoughts on either one.

My wife and I stayed at Hillcrest last year and the owner is very nice. It was a perfect size for the two of us and we will be returning when we can.

Rick,

Is it an easy walk to town and back? Would you let your wife and child go by themselves?
