Ok...we are planing our June 2006 vacation and our villa might be booked already. Has anyone stayed at Concordia? We are looking for a quiet place over near Coral Bay with water views. It will just be me and my wife so we only need one bedroom. We stayed one night a Cinnamon before but it is a little too rustic to spend an entire week for us (and too crowded). So any info on Concordia will be appreciated. ALSO...if anyone knows of any one bedroom villas near Coral ($1500 or less) we would appreciate any input! Thanks.

Hubbie and I are going to Concordia on Nov 5th for a week and Canoebase from the Midwest is going there later in the month so be on the lookout for our personal "reviews". It has been discussed here before so if you search, you'll come up with a few positive responses. We did check it out 5 years ago and its much nicer (in our opinion as long time campers) than Cinnamon (but no beach, is a small pool), much quieter than the Maho Bay tents on the other side, but has fewer conveniences than Maho or Cinnamon (no store, must, must have a car). Anyway, look for the reviews in a few weeks!

yes, my wife and I are flying out of St. Louis on Thanksgiving Day, and we'll be at Concordia for a week. Even when I'm backpacking I bring along a pocket notebook and write stuff down, so when I get back I'll do a trip report, maybe with digital pics. And the reason that we're going there, instead of the Cruz Bay area is because it's not quite so "busy". During the day we both work with people (she's an RN, I work at a Ford dealer), so we're both looking forward to some quiet beach time.

Yes, we do that too, and call it the Captain's log for that trip, helps to remember stuff long after the trip is over.
We agree, its alot quieter at Concordia but most villas would have more creature comforts I'm sure which may or may not be necessary to you In Love.

I agree the Coral Bay side is quieter. For reasonable priced villas try www.privatehomesvi.com . They have some villas in the Coral Bay area. Check it out.

Another reasonably priced villa out past Salt Pond is La Sirena. http://windspree.com/homes/lasirena/

My husband and I stayed at Concordia (not the tents) about five years ago. We really liked it. We didn't have a view - we just looked over the pool. It was a nice room with a tiny kitchen and a great shower (for two people). We noticed when we were back this summer (we rented a great little cottage on Fish Bay this time) that they had paved the road up to Concordia. Don't miss snorkeling at the cobblestone beach past Salt Pond Bay. It is different than anywhere else we have snorkeled - more of a deep water environment. At the end of the beach closest to Salt Pond.

Thanks for that advise, we aren't too familiar with that side of the island and love to snorkle so its now on the short list!

Try the webpage for Calabash Cottages. They have three small cottages with wonderful views and garden showers. Very nice.

Thanks Linda. We actually forgot about this place. We looked into it last year but it was already booked.

Consider looking into "The Honeymoon Cottage" (North Shore)

It gets rave reviews and is very private. You can rent it from Terry Witham on St John. It has full A/C and a hot tub. It overlooks Lenister Bay.

Terry can be reached at [email protected]. She will quote the rates.

You might also consider Little Plantation over Coral Bay.

A/C in MBR / 2 bedrooms / dipping pool

Or...

St John Passion over Rendezvous Bay on the South Shore - this one has 3 bedrooms, but a good price for only 2 guests (no, they don't lock off the other bedrooms 🙂 (people always ask that). It has a pool and hot tub - and AC in two out of three bedrooms (incl. the master)

If you can squeeze from $1,500 to $1,800, I think your options will greatly improve (some of what I have recommended are slightly over your budget).

We spent a week at Sago Cottage and loved it. It's better than the pics.
