It's a long story.... But I will be searching for some conch fritters on STJ during my upcoming visit.

Suggestions?

As weird as it sounds, I thought the fritters in the Texas Cafe (don't recall the whole name but its next to Coral Bay Jewelers) place right next to the park at Cruz Bay were pretty good.

Woody's in Cruz Bay. Great fritters and GREAT drinks.

I agree with A. Davis ... Vi's and it's a nice way to spend an afternoon, make sure you take your swimsuits and snorkeling gear. go stuff on the east end.

We just got back and for the FOURTH time, we went to the far end of the earth where Vie's Snack Shack is, after checking with the locals who assured us that YES, she was open and for the FOURTH time, the place was closed despite the sign outside saying she was open. I was totally frustrated and won't try again. So if you're new to STJ, be prepared for Vie's being closed and for a long drive back to somewhere in Coral Bay to eat (lots of good choices there!)

Hello,

The best conch fritters we had was at Vie's. We had the pleasure of eating there twice in April. Her garlic chicken and johnny cakes were yummy too.

We also had a great time snorkeling on her beach. A small fee was worth it. (2.50)If she isn't there and you want to use her beach there is a small box on the fence, Just put your money in the box.
Very nice honor system. You don't have to bring your beach chairs either, because she provides.

She is usually there at noontime. We were there on Tuesday and Friday. If you go try between the hours of 11:30-1:00.

Enjoy... worth the trip to the east end.

I've got to put in a vote for the conch fritters at Miss Lucy's (south of Coral Bay, as if you were on your way to Salt Pond Bay).

No trip is complete without at least on dinner at Miss Lucy's, sitting outside near the water, enjoying the "reverse sunset" (facing east).... Also love their callaloo (sp?) soup.

Enjoy!
