I'm searching for a complete guide to inshore fishing the VI. Also, I have a specific question regarding the Pompano. Some say they bite year-round, some say only in spring.
We've got a fishing section on the site with some basic information, you can find it at: fishing guide Its based in part on the Division of Fish and Wildlife fishing booklet, which you can find a pdf version of on their website at http://fw.dpnr.gov.vi/index.htm. There is a book called Sportfishing in the Virgin Islands that you might be interested in, you can find it on http://www.VItraders.com in the General Books section.
As for Pompano, my understanding is that Florida Pompano is scarcely seen around here. And its pretty rare to catch an African Pompano, you catch one and you're having a super-great fishing day type deal. They are around year-round, mostly in shallower areas, flats; but again a rarity to catch. Hope that helps.
