We returned 12/27 from a week on St. Thomas and surrounding Islands. I am preparing a full trip report but I had to report this right away.. There is a couple living on St. Thomas who own Community Motors (I'm sorry, I have forgotten their names). We met these people in San Juan when we were trying to connect to St. Thomas (Eagle delayed, imagine that) late saturday night on 12/20. I started chatting with them and they were very helpful with restaurant suggestions, etc. I expressed my concern about getting in late and catching the Hertz rental car agent. They asked where we were staying (Best Western Emerald Beach) and they said if we couldn't get the rental car, they would be happy to take us to our hotel. I thought this was such a nice thing to offer considering I knew they were anxious to get home as they had children waiting for their return. Anyway, turns out we landed way late and the rental agent was gone. This couple was prepared to take us to our hotel (even offering to wait while we found out what happened to the missing luggage!). I couldn't inconvenience them any longer and told them thank you, but we'd just take a taxi. I just wanted people to know that this couple really gave us a great immediate impression of St. Thomas locals and it was a great way to start the vacation.

Thanks again,

Hello Joanna,

Sounds like the aggravation of missing luggage and delayed flights was counterbalanced by this couples' kindness. Welcome back and I look forward to reading about your trip - I do hope the missing luggage was quickly resolved and the rest of the trip was wonderful! I have dealt with missing/damaged luggage at STT airport before - all of them were difficult.

Joanna...... Lookiing forward to reading your report on the Emerald Beach Hotel as I am booked there in a couple of weeks. Right-on-the-sand was important for me so I hope it is a good choice, despite the possible noise?? How is the restaurant?

Thanks
