When do things start to shut down for the season? I'm thinking of going either the first week of April or first week of May. With the way things are going for me it will probably be May. So basically is there still a lot of places open? How's the weather in May?

Everything will be open. The off season closings don't usually start until the end of August thru October.

We always go the end of April and the weather is great!

The prices for housing usually go down in the middle of April. Look at the weather info on this site. I think May is one of the months with the most rain. We went this May and a little rain, but it was fine and didn't hamper us at all. Next year we are going last 2 weeks of April just hoping it might be a little cooler. If you like salmon, the middle of May brings Copper River salmon from Alaska, and Shipwreck does a great job with it. Due to this it was tough to decide between April and May.
