Hi y'all,
Husband and I are planning a trip to VI and thinking of staying at Sapphire beach, I have couple questions since this is our first time going to VI.
1. how is the weather like in July aroun the 14th-20th?
2. I saw couple forums about sapphire beach and wondering how is the litigation so far and if its OK to stay there?
3. This is my main question and my main concern, I just got my citizenship on February so don't have time to apply for passport, and again because of my stupidity-ness I laminate my darn proof of citizenship, the immigration officer told me I'm not suppose to do that and therefor I need to get new proof of citizenship. I have to pay $350 to get them and I don't want to pay for it since the time crunch of the vacation. So I know that we don't need passport when we leave US mainland to VI but what about leaving VI? do we need to give the immigration officer passport or any citizenship proof?
Thanks so much I really appreciate it.
Hurricane season just started officially but July usually poses no problems in that regard. The Sapphire litigation has only affected the beach bar and restaurant which remain closed. In their place has popped up a nice little place selling sandwiches and drinks while there are runners on the beach to take food and drink orders from the restaurant up on on the hill in Sapphire Village as well as Senor Pizza.
You might want to look into getting an expedited passport. You do not need anything to enter the USVI but upon exiting you MAY be asked to prove identity and citizenship. A passport covers both, otherwise a state-issued photographic ID such a a state driver's license covers identity and citizenship is proved by a copy of your birth certificate. Many people pass through with just a driver's license but unheralded swoops are often made and if you don't have what's necessary you can be pulled out of line and asked to answer a bunch of questions to establish that you are who you say you are. Not the best way to end a vacation. Enjoy a wonderful stay here!
Thank you so much this is so helpful. (tu)
