Hello Everyone!!! 😎

We are soooo psyched as we will be on St John next Friday. It’s been 5yrs since we have stepped foot on St John and 6yrs since we have stayed there.

From our readings, some things have not changed at all and it looks like there are some new things we will need to check out. We are looking forward to exploring the island/beaches and walking around town at night, hanging at the beach bar and watching the boats! This week can’t go fast enough!!

I do have a few questions for you guys.

We use to love hanging out at Fred’s on the nights they had Reggae. We have the best memories dancing and listening to the best Reggae around. I hear Fred’s is no longer 🙁 Anyone know where we can find some good Reggae on St John? Also, just some good island music, steel drums, etc. We just love that kind of music but it’s actually hard to find. We love to hang at the beach bar too and know they have music but from what I remember it’s more blues and rock which is great too. Any info would be great.

We are staying at Gallow’s Point so will be able to walk to town to hang out.

We plan to rent a Dinghy for a day as we love to explore the beaches. I can’t remember if you can take the Dinghy to Waterlemon to snorkel, anyone know? I know when we have rented them in the past there is a certain point you can’t go past. I’m sure they will tell us but just curious now.

We also plan to do a sail over to the BVI as we love it there too. Have stayed on Jost so must make a trip to Soggy to have one or many painkillers and play some ring toss.

Any advice or tips for us on our TRIP BACK would be great. We have been to St John many times in the past so are completely beside ourselves to get back. Had other parts of the Caribbean we had to explore.

I know I have more questions but they are not coming to me. I’m sure they will come flooding out before we leave 😎

One Week!!

If you have not been there in 5 years, be prepared for some changes, it seems to me many more building projects, some you will pass on your way to Gallows Point.

I believe Fred's is still there, not sure about when there is music, but I believe it is still open.

We like the quietness of the east side at this point in our lives, so might suggest you visit over there while you are on the island.

One more thing, there now is a round about in Cruz Bay, takes a little getting use to from driving on the other side of the road.

Enjoy your tip and let us know what you think of 5 years of progress on the island????????

Hey There and Thx for the info. I am excited Fred's is still there! Love the place. We also love the east end as well. We love to stop at Vie's for the fritters and use her beach. We love to hang out at Skinny Legs as well. Someday, I am sure we will stay over there. For now though we like to be able to walk to town. I will be sure to post when we get back with my thoughts. I'm sure they will be all positive! It's funny you mention the round about. We live in Wisconsin and they have been adding them around here now for the past few years. It did take some getting use to. We were on Provo in the Turks last year and they too had them and driving on the left. My husband is a lefty and says driving on the left feel natural to him so he usually does fine. He loves to drive on St John on those crazy steep roads, with caution of course.

Fred's is still there! You can hear bands at Larry's Landing (now it is across the street from Wharfside Village, next the the Catholic church). Also at the Beach Bar several nights a week and Rhumb Lines on Mondays. They have a mix of bands, different kinds of music. If you are staying at Gallows, I supposed all you have to do is walk around town, see what is going on (should take you about 10 minutes!) You can also pick up a copy of The St. John Sun Times (free, at Connections, the markets, and other locations) to get a monthly listing of bands and where they are playing.
