the caribbean islands are well situated for observing meteor showers and comets, so you should be able to see this new comet w. naked eye, certainly w. binox, from anywhere in vi.

the pleiades are 6 very bright stars that look very much like a very little dipper; they are easily visible to the naked eye.
unfortunately we have been clouded in for several days/nites, so no chance to look myself.
did anyone see the geminid meteor shower in mid-december? it was really a good one; ~70 meteors per hour on dec. 13 and some nice fireballs on dec. 14

thanx, islander, i was unaware of etelman. i'll be sure to check it out on my next visit. web site doesn't say anything about public viewing; do you know if they have such sessions?

When I attended UVI there were sessions where students (& I think the public) were invited... I would say contact one of the prof. in science dept. to get more info./details.
