Only one week to go and my wife and I can finally leave this cold Ontario winter behind for a little while! To Islander and the others who always take the time to share your knowledge and thoughts with us, thanks for everything! You all have been a great help.
We will be visiting by cruise ship and in port for 10 hours. One of the things we would like to do is check out the clothing shops, both mens and womens, and both the laid back beachware/everyday style as well as the upscale stores (I'm pretty sure my wife could find just one more formal dress for the cruise:-).Any advice on which stores we should hit and who has reasonable prices would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. We will be trying out Underwater BoB for our morning excursion. Heard it is well worth it. We're bring 18 other people with us, so it should be a party!! See you all soon.

After BoBing all for the morning, simply head over to the shops and galleries of Charlotte Amalie, or "town", as we call it. You won't be disappointed. You might however find more jewelery shops than clothing ones. A good shop for the wife would be Local Color right on the waterfront, and right next door is the Caribbean Surf shop.

Just behind Caribbean Surf shop is a lovely little shop called Into the Sea Gallery, which carries local arts and crafts, and has recently begun carrying the Lagnappe Tropical Handbags and Accessories that are upscale and very trendy. You can get a sneak peek at the website for Lagnamppe at: http://www.lagnappebags.com

Enjoy your visit and PLEASE POST your impressions of your BoB adventure when you have time. I've been living here for 14 months and have yet to check out that really neat looking attraction.

Hello Don,

There are a whole lot more jewerly stores downtown then there are clothing.

For beach/tropical-wear you could try Vendors Plaza. Its an area in Charlotte Amalie where vendors have tables/booths set up. Your wife can get tropical print wrap skirts/dresses there. Souvenir shops also have these. Caribbean Surf Co. has beach wear. Resort-wear, I'd read about Fresh Produce in AH Rise Mall. Tommy Hilfiger is downtown also.

For upscale you might try Nicole Miller and the other clothing shops in Palm Passage (which is an alley in Charlotte Amalie). Other shops in that alley that come to mind are White House Black Market & Benetton.

I would like to add that there is a section of the waterfront that is mostly clothing stores, including Local Color, Caribbean Surf Co, etc.
