I have read that STT has a close hotel and within walking distance to the airport but the name of it is slipping my mind right now. I also read sometime back ago that the reviews were not so good for this place. Does anyone know if it is any better? All we need is a 1 night stay for a early morning flight that we would never make it off of St. John in time to catch. My thought was to skip the cab cost and get up and just walk to the airport or is that a bad idea?

You're probably thinking of either Best Western Emerald Beach or Best Western Carib Beach, both of which are on the airport road. The Emerald Beach generally gets much better reviews than the Carib Beach and the easy flat walk to the airport will take you 15 minutes and will be quite comfortable early in the morning.

Thank you STT Resident for the information. Did you mean a comfortable walk in the morning such as temperature or low car traffic? Are both these hotels mixed in with each other or next door to each other?

There are actually three hotels on airport road. The Island Beachcomber is adjacent to Emerald Beach. The Carib is next to the airport itself. Won't get into reviews of these hotels but the walk with rolling luggage on the sidewalk should be easy enough. The most difficult part would be getting across the road to the sidewalk, just be patient in crossing. Do you have Google Earth? You can pull it up and navigate to STT airport and get a better idea of where everything is located.

yup, will have rolling luggage. But the Caribe hotel would be best for us but I'm scared to death of the reviews. Even though the closest and shortest walk for us. Maybe we can just crash on the beach. lol just kidding.

There are sidewalks on the road and the low morning temperatures will make the walk comfortable. The traffic on the airport road (it's just a simple road with one traffic lane each way) is slow and minimal so no worries there about getting sideswiped! I'd pick Emerald Beach first, Beachcomber second and Caribe third. Enjoy your visit and I'm sure the last night will work out just fine for you - Emerald Beach is great for an early morning wake-up swim!!
