Is cistern water potable or do you all drink bottled water when at the villas on STJ?

by mid april 2005 the cisterns were running dry so most managers bought desalinated water that they put into their cisterns. the desalinated water costs 1cent a gallon but hauling it cost 5cents a gallon which is still better than the $1.25 a gallon at starfish marked for botteled water.

Is it safe to drink? our villa owner suggested not drinking it but the restaurants filter it and serve it. Only Skinny Legs in coral bay charged for tap water and it was only 50 cents a person. We drank bottled water at the first villa but wehn we went to the concordia camp site they had potable water which we drank with no known ill effects.

One note... While on st. john you owe it to yourself to go to Vis' place. it is two hills over past haulover bay. she is posted to open at 10:30. we arrived at ll:30 and she was just opening. You can rent kayaks at 1/2 price there. she also has a private beach for only $2.50. When I ordered a sharps beer she told me it was non alcoholic. when I said I knew she told me that not everyone did..just making sure.
