Hello- Thinking of staying at the Cinnamon Bay cottages in August. Can anybody tell me what they're like? Not much info on their site... What's the alcohol situation there? How's their restaurant? Are there bars or liquor stores nearby? Also, does anyone have suggestions on good reggae bars? Thanks!

The Cinnamon Bay cottages are part of the campground. Think camping. You'll have twin beds, a propane stove, a cooler, a barbecue, a picnic table and a water container. Bathroom facilities are nearby and communal. Showers are cool water.
The "restaurant" is ok, mostly fast food type options. There is a camp store for essentials that you may have forgotten. Remember you are in the middle of the national park so there aren't commercial restaurants and stores there. You will have to go to Cruz Bay for groceries and liquor.
If you like camping, you'll be very happy.

Just to add to the above comments:

1. The cottages (tents with hard walls and a roof) are very close to right on the beach so you can hear the surf.

2. The restaurant while not gourmet is a step or two up from typical fast food (McDonalds).

It is a camping type experience though.

The Restaurant is Ok - burgers, salads, sandwiches made there. Ate there a couple times and enjoyed it - more like a bbq I think (hot dogs, hamburgers...)

Alcohol - I suppose it would be buy your own and put it in your cooler. You can shop for ice and alcohol in Cruz Bay - no shops as mentioned within the park except for the Cinnamon bay little convience store.

Great Beach.

Thanks for all the info! Would anyone recommend a different place to stay on St. John's aside from Cinnamon Bay cottages? We're looking for something laid-back, not too expensive, but not a resort. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
