I have a few questions regarding the Cinnamon Bay Campground that I could not find answered on this board and I was hoping someone here could help.
1. How are the tents at Cinnamon. It appears from the website that they are military style canvas tents. Can anyone fill me in on their experience?
2. We will be in STJ from May 8th to the 16th. I imagine that it would be pretty hot and humid during that time. Do the tents at Cinnamon get decent breezes or would they stay pretty balmy at night?
3. Do the tents offer any sort of privacy? I have seen that they are all stacked pretty closely.
4. I have heard that the beach at Cinnamon Bay can get fairly crowded or "touristy" with all the cruisers. Is this true?
5. Finally, I read that the bathroom facilities can be pretty bad...any opinions on this?
I apologize for the long post. As of now, we are booked for the whole trip at Concordia Eco-Tents. I was going for the least touristy/most private place possible on a budget. My travel partner heard that Cinnamon was a good option. What would everyone's overall suggestion be?
Stay with Concordia, even though it is on the dry side of the island you will be much happier and thus will enjoy your trip versus feeling like you were cheated.
Have you looked at Maho Bay campgrounds? Back when that was all my wife and I could afford we loved them. It is rustic, but has some of the things that make it very doable. Staff was great ever year we stayed there.
I must confess staying at a home on the mountain at this point is much better.
As far as the beach is concerned, it is a great beach, yes it is busy, but has lots to offer and is one of the best beaches for kids if that is an issue.
Good luck and enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the quick reply. I work in the tourism/ski industry in Colorado and I am looking for a much needed refuge from it. That is why Concordia initially appealed to me.
I did look at Maho but for the cost difference (relatively small) I think Concordia more than makes up for the cost. A private bathroom also appealed to me. I think the smaller scale (only 11 units) is also much more appealing.
Also I have heard that Concordia tends to get the better breezes than the North Side. Is this true. It is pretty important to me as the heat will be a bit of a shock for me, because it will probably be snowing at home when I leave in May
I think you'll like Concordia with one exception, it ain't close to anything. So if you are looking for seculusion, you'll love it. It's clean and comfortable.
