Hi,
Sorry if this is redundant but I was wondering how the cell phone coverage for Cingular is on STX??
Thanks.
Cingular has more coverage than Sprint, which is the only other direct carrier on the island. A few other cell services work on Roaming or by sharing Cingular or Sprint towers if you have the right kind of plan for your phone to work here. Some carriers consider the USVI to be a foreign country and don't include it in lots of mainland service plans if you don't have foreign coverage set up before you come down to the islands.
There are some cell pockets on the island where there is no coverage. With all the hills and valleys and twists and turns, they just can't put up enough towers to cover every nook and cranny. There are also a couple larger areas that don't have coverage, including most of the northwest shore along Cane Bay/Carambola area and chunks of the southeast shore.
You will have coverage most places you go on the island.
Thank you AGAIN!!! I put a call in Cingular and they told me that I have coverage that I can use in STX w/out roaming. I got stuck in that before and now coming down w/ 2 teenagers, I'd hate to have to pay roaming. Goodness only knows that they will NEED to talk to their friends!!!! : )
well of course they have to talk to their friends! They want to rub it in that they are in the islands on a fabulous vacation!
