Have family members that suffer from mild/moderate allergies and sinus problems, and arthritis who are worried about island living. Anyone suffered from these ailments stateside, but found relief on the USVI or worsening of symtoms, please let me know?
We are from the Los Angeles area. My daughter and I have moderate sinus allergies mostly due to air pollution and pollens. We are taking Allegra year round.
Last July we spent 2 weeks in the US and British VI with no sign of allergy at all. We did not even take medications for it.
In any case, I think that you should have an idea of what causes your allergy and be prepared.
Hope this helps.
I had severe allergies to flowering trees in KY. Took drugs from early March through August. Itching eyes, sneezing, coughing. I've lived on STX for 7 years and ZERO problems.
The warm weather and the 60% humidity makes my bones feel so much better. I was allergic to pine tree pollen but no pine trees here. Being in the warm sea is also good for my arthritis
I have allergies and have been to STT and STJ numerous times and I have never had a problem.
Not to dismiss those who normally have allergy problems but don't have them here but there are several times during the year when locals suffer from allergies to various flowering trees and shrubs - as well as to the Sahara Dust which travels from the African coast in the summer months and sometimes creates quite a haze which is very irritating.
As I've got older I have a few arthritic spots but can only imagine how much worse they would be if I were in a cold climate!
