My family and I are arriving in St. Thomas on Christmas Eve at around 5:00pm. Does anyone know if stores (grocery, etc.) will be open. Also, any ideas for what to do on Christmas Day? I am assuming restaurants will be open(?)
Thanks for any help!
Should be business as usual on Christmas Eve. Some restaurants may be open. Look towards the ones in the hotels.
There is one grocer that is always open regardless of date, and that is Plaza Extra in the Tutu Park Mall.
Your island manager/concierge can assist you with what restaurants may be available for holiday meals. Resort-based eateries are great candidates.
Yes, grocery stores and supermarkets will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Many restaurants will be open too. You can check the Islander Trader online via a link from www.virginislandsdailynews.com to see what's going on and what will be open. Cheers!
Count on not getting out of the airport before 6pm and then travel time to your hotel/villa. You may want to consider having provisioning done for ease of transition. As A. Davis said, contact your manager/concierge. Just a thought on making your arrival night a little easier!
This way too, your biggest dilemma will be where to go and eat! Heck, even that arrangement can be made in advance!
Good luck and have fun!
Where are you staying?
Thanks for the reply Sherri! We are staying at the Sapphire Village Condo by Sapphire Beach. Is the airport difficult to get out of or does it take a long time to get your luggage? I hope we will be able to get some dinner at a restaurant. We will be having a long day of travel. Our flight leaves Chicago at 6:00am and we don't get into St. Thomas until 4:00! My two kids will be starving by then. Do you have any recommendations for Christmas Day?
Thanks! 🙂
