Would you recommend, with 4 extra nights, to spend them in St John or St Thomas or split the two? Any recommendations for nice but affordable lodging likely to be available over President's Week (2/14-2/18). For two friends traveling together.

No need to split nights, both are only a 15 minute ferry ride away. I would advocate for St. Thomas. You better get moving, as that is the busiest time of the year!

Hello Susan,

I agree with Ronnie stay in one place take the ferry and visit the other... you will waste precious vacation time unpacking and repacking, moving and rechecking in somewhere else, unpacking again... pick somewhere nice on St. Thomas' and enjoy both islands. You might try www.caribbeachresort.com or www.emeraldbeach.com for close to the beach resorts that are not too pricey.

Will you be renting a car - if so you can take the car over on the car barge and explore St.John... also if you aren't interested in being at a beach hotel there are inns and b&b??
