I am trying to decide on a couple of fun daysails for a girl trip this summer. I am looking at Island Spirit, a large cat, also I am trying to decide if Noshooz or Spitfire would be a better choice. I have done the Baths three times and do not need to go again. I have also done New Horizions, but I do not want to have to go to ST to board the boat. I would much rather leave from SJ.

Any suggestions?

I was just going to write the board about this subject! Too funny.
We too need advice on taking a day sail from STJ to BVI's. We don't want to take the Ferry over. We would rather have someone take us to all the spots. Has anyone gone over on the Breath? No scuba diving just some snorkeling.
Look forward for suggestions.
Thanks!

Have read nothing but good things about Breath here and elsewhere.

We are first timers and are going out on White Wing out of Coral Bay 3 weeks from tomorrow based on hearty recommendations from others, primarily from Deb on this board who is a long time STJ traveler who has sailed with "all of the usual suspects" but gushed about her last trip when they went out with Capt. Clark on White Wing. Will post trip report on return.

He sails to both USVI waters and also 2 or 3 different intineraries to the BVIs - he seems very flexible. Leaving from Coral Bay puts you closer to BVIs and White Wing is reported to be fast for a sailboat. Search archives and google it to read more if interested.

D'oh! Youre not the same Deb are you? If so, then I'm guilty of preaching to the choir and was of no help to you...looking forward to the White Wing daysail!

Hi Sandycwgirl,

We went on very nice sail last year on Breath. Granted, we did not do any of the BVI, just stayed in STJ waters and snorkeled, but Captain Peter M. and his crew and the boat all made for a great day. He and the boat and his family have a (relatively) long history in STJ, I think he said he's lived on the island for 30 years or something; very interesting to talk to and learn from, both stories about STJ and of sailing Breath around the globe.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a tel. # or www address to White Wing?

Down to counting HOURS, people! We're on the plane tomorrow morning, leaving Boston Winter behind for 10 long lovely days!!!

Try http://pws.prserv.net/sailhighpockets/index.html (High Pockets) The captain and 1st mate are women so unless you are looking for a hunky guy captain, this could be perfect for a gals trip! She docks at Red Hook, but I think she would pick you up on STJ... She makes a killer lunch and great painkillers!

Click on that stjohnlinks above to see pic of White Wing. That site may also list other Coral Bay boats.

Jude, I daysailed with White Wing in Dec. It is a 46ft. mono-hull. It's a great looking boat, very fast, very clean, with a great captain. We snorkled in New Found Bay, Flanagan Island, and some where else I cant't remember. Too many painkillers by then.
Best day of our trip. I don't know of any cats sailing out of Coral Bay, buy I'm sure there are some. All I know is we flew by other boats that left about the same time we did. He also put out fishing lines which would have been cool if we had caught anything, but we did not. I think he does reel 'um in at times.

If you have any questions e-mail me.

One more note...sailing out of Coral Bay is soooo much more beautiful than I ever imagined!!!
