Hi,

We are visiting St thomas next month and have some questions...
I have heard there is a chocolate store called "caribbean chocolate" somewhere but i can not seem to find any information on it. Has anyone seen this store and where is it?
Thanks in advance!
Inge

Yes I have found it. Walking down main st. it is down about 2 blocks in a alley on the right hand side of st. They have a sign on the bldg. in front of it on main st. The chocolate is very good. Enjoy. Try the truffles. Better than Godiva

I believe the Caribbean Chocolate Store has been closed a couple yrs now. It had a new owner but didn't survive. 🙁

Not sure if same one but I believe it is. I had a piece of chocolate from this place this past June 2005. Maybe it is a different one???

In Trompetor Gade there's an eaterie, Time for a Break. There's a bakery/confection place that's right next door that may actually be a part of Time for a Break. I think that's where people are suggesting you go for the chocolate.

Also in that alley, in a soap store called Sunfeather, they're selling Caribbean Fudge, which is made with Cruzan rum. You may also want to try that if you're a chocoholic! The fudge should also be available in Captain's Corner.

The street is very short, and there's only one confectionary shop there, and it looks like it's part of Time for a Break. Go there and see if they have the Caribbean Chocolate. If you ask someone here where Caribbean Chocolate is, they'll probably tell you it's closed. The directory for Trompetor Gade does list Caribbean Chocolate, but I'm pretty sure there's no outside signage saying Caribbean Chocolate. It's kind of confusing when you go there, because they look like they're one eaterie - one specializing in sandwiches, etc the other in cakes, etc. But I don't think there's a separate sign saying Caribbean Chocolate - if so, it's not too noticeable.

I ate breakfast on Trompeter Gade this morning, and found out Caribbean Chocolate is definitely closed (though the directory sign is still there). Sorry.

They probably closed because there wasn't enough business to make it worth their while. I think this was their second location, so they've probably had it with trying to do it in a downtown retail location. Did you google them to see if maybe they've taken it to the web?

I strongly encourage you to try the Caribbean Rum fudge if you like chocolate. It's a new company here, and they'd appreciate your support. You should be able to find it in Captain's Corner and Sunfeather.

That Cruzan Rum fudge sounds delightful. Are Captain's Corner and Sunfeather little shops on the street Trompeter Gade? I found the street on my map of Charlotte Amalie. I am making my first trip there in April.
