Well, me and my sweetie have decided to marry while we visit St. John August 2 - 9th. We'll be having a very nice small wedding on the beach with just our children ( 7 y.o and 7 month old) and my little brother ( he's 23y.o). At any rate, we were thinking of maybe having a chef come to our rental home, The Starlit Escape, and we were wondering of any one has any recommendations in this area. Affordable would be nice, but definitely some real good food...I think I would prefer some good seafood or surf and turf. Something nice and elegant. Any help is appreciated.

thanks, Rey

I haven't spoken to hear in about a year and I know she has recently gotten married. Not sure if she's still into private catering or something more. Worth a call. She's out of NYC, originally. Highly recommened.

Pia, I've seen your name on several message boards and it appears you know a lot about St. John. I'm getting married this August on this beautiful island and have Passion Fruit catering my affair at the villa we're renting. Any comments or suggestions you can offer?

Also, I understand the mosquitos have been bad this summer, can you help me with this at all? I'm getting nervous.

Thanks.

Well the search continues. I really do like what the Mathayom has to offer. I came across another service.. East West Catering. has any one heard of, or used them? here is their website http://stjohnlinks.com/Food/East_West/Local%20Publish/index1.htm

We will be in STJ in August a week later and the villa we are renting "Great Expectations" has recommended several services for food preparation. I am happy to share, Christy's, Passion Fruit Chefs, or Marthayom Private Chefs. I assume they have web sites and that was not provided and have not had a reason to contact them as of yet. Good luck and have a great time.

We ended up going with Passion Fruit Chefs, and were served Childen sea bass. It was delicious, and I definately recommend them. This was our menu for our small party of three adults:

Hors d'oeuvre - Brie topped w/Caramelized Fruit and Water Crackers
1st Course - Garden Salad w/Citrus Vinaigrette
Entrée - Chilean Sea Bass with a Citrus, Soy and Ginger Glaze served with
Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Asparagus
Dessert - 6" Wedding Cake - Vanilla Cake w/Fresh Strawberries and Pastry
Cream
