I'm switching jobs and took the last half of august off of work. I would like to go down to the vi and use my week to learn to windsurf. I want to windsurf all day and drink all night. Room comforts are of minimal concern. I'm looking for the dirt cheapest places to sleep for a week in the vi.

I haven't been to the BVI before, so I would prefer BVI spots, but don't mind staying on st thomas or st john at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far the best I've found is $200.00 for the week at bluebeards castle.

That's off-season. Did you try the Best Western Carib or Emerald?

Had another thought. Do you know anyone that works for Marriott? If you do, and you're comfortable asking, there's a friends and family discount that will cut the bill in half or more. It's no skin off the Marriott employee either. We use it all the time and it is great!

You can find quite a few small lodging on Cane Garden Bay under $100 a night!

Try the camps/huts, or whatever they call them, at Maho Bay in STJ. If you found $200/wk at Bluebeards, I don't think you'll find cheaper. BW Caribe is around $100/nite off-season and BW Emerald Beach is slightly more.

Not sure of the price, but the host is wonderful. Try Crystal Palace on STT. If you're by yourself, this is where I'd stay.!

Cheapest way to do it on STJ is to bring your own tent and camp at Vie's or Cinnamon. Probably the best bet is Maho---in the off season, a single person can stay for $60/night. Here's a list that hasn't been updated for a while:

Here's the correct link for the Inn @ Tamarind. Looks like they have a pretty good deal available in August also.

If you've found a place for $200 A WEEK and it has a bed and a BR, I'd snap it up - fast.

If you camp at Cinnamon, there are windsurfing and kiteboarding lessons available right there.

Yeah the $200.00 week a bluebeards got snatched before I could buy it. I didn't realize how good of a deal that was! Although I'm thinking if I camp at cinnamon I would probably save a good amount of money in ferry and taxi charges. I'm still looking into all of the recommendations everyone has made. Thanks for all of the advice!

Parrot,
RonUSVI owns the place I recommended. See what he would recommend.

At $200 for the week , that would certainly be best! Those are timeshares that people rent from time to time to cover their charges when they can't make it. $60 per night is about the cheapest you can find, unless you want to rent a month from me then I can get it down to about $30 a day!
