Just wanted to let everyone know that airfare has dipped down (if only briefly), I just got 2 tix from atl to stt for less than $600! Spirit air. My sister also bought 2 tix from Houston for around $730, not sure what airline...
airfare prices are insane!! it makes me furious!! I just bough Thanksgiving week tic from philly to stt at 494$ plus all the darn taxes, came to 540 a ticket. what a rip!! I usually take USAIR non stop at about $425 including taxes, those tickets now cost $1,200
Last week I booked flights for my wife and two young grandkids on U S Air for Jun-Jul. I have a travelocity fare alert and they sent me a notice. The flights out of ATL but through Charlotte cost $1,040 for three to STT. Those same flights today are listed for $1,137.10. Who knows what they will cost next week?
It would be cheaper to find a cruise out a ways. Then just get off in port. I think you can do that.
I, too, noticed the crazy fares to STT. I also watch some domestic fares and they are not increasing at the rate STT is.
Try Jetblue. You can get to Orlando or SanJuan cheap... and then take American or Cape Air. JB and Cape Air work together now so your luggage will go straight thru! Just lettin' ya know! =)
