hello,
interested in chartering a motor boat, trawler to cruise the islands. Used La Vida many years ago. Any suggestions on reputable company?
Sue, I've used Virgin Traders on Tortola in Nanny Cay (key) before and very much a promoter of theirs. They were great, the boat was beautiful, etc. I tend to think that the BVI's offer a better experience than the USVI as far a anchorages and a real "island" experience. Please email me direct, as I do not visit this site frequently. Bruce
if you're looking for just a day charter try a boat at American Yacht Harbor called "Shag Me". It's a new boat but the capt. has been in the Caribbean for years and really knows her way around the waters. She can get you to some of the other islands really fast (jost van dyke, tortola etc). also has equip for snorkeling. P.S. boat name wasn't her idea!!!!
La Vida is now named Trawler's in Paradise. It's owned by different people. I chartered out of La Vida on my first trip down there and had a great experience. Last year I went with Trawler's in Paradise and it was completely different. I will not book through them again. This year I'm going with Virgin Traders out of Nanny Cay on Tortola, as Bnelson previously suggested. The boats are much nicer although a tad more expensive. I believe it will be well worth it.
Sue,
VIP Yacht Charters at Boaters Haven has a very good reputation. CYOA in Frenchtown also. These are if you are looking for a bare boat term charter. For a crewed term charter or a day sail, email me and I can supply a list of names and telephone numbers.
