Arriving in St Thomas via a cruise ship and plan on visiting St John. On our last trip we took a tour and used the ferry from Red Hook. Have since read that there is a ferry from CharlotteAmalie and I am wondering where this is located in relationship to the cruise terminal. Does anyone know the cab fares from the terminal to Red Hook? Advantages/disadvantages?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Debbie

I think it's roughly a mile or so from Havensight to the ferry dock along the Charlotte Amalie waterfront. We walked it a few times, so I can't even guess at the cab rate. The ferry out of Red Hook is cheaper and the crossing between islands is shorter, but the cab fare is no doubt higher and it's not walking distance from the cruise ships. I believe there is cab rates on the St. Thomas This Week website, but I can't think of the URL off hand. I think I just plug the name into a search engine like altavista.com and it comes up near the top of the listing.

There are taxi rates and ferry rates/schedules on the site you are looking at...www.vinow.com

Advantages of ferry from Charlotte Amalia = no long taxi ride to red hook
Disadvantage = more limited number of ferrys each day and longer ferry ride.
