Which ferry is better to take to STT. I've read it takes almost an hour via taxi to get to Red Hook but the ferry from Charlotte Amalie takes 45 minutes. If you're not interested in grocery shopping wouldn't the 45 minute ferry make sense? Also, since the Charlotte Amalie ferry goes around the side of STT wouldn't it make for a scenic ride? Let me know your views. Thanks in advance!

My last 5 trips to STJ I have taken the ferry from Charlotte Amalie instead of going to Red Hook, more expensive, not as many ferry boats running, times are not as good, however beats the trip over to Red Hook and is a great way to start to slooooooooooow down for island time.

My watch comes off on the ferry no matter which one I have taken and does not go back on until we are headed home.

I never had had to wait more than an hour for ferry out of downtown, and that would be about the time it would take to get to Red Hook after the usual stops dropping folks off at resorts along the way.

Enjoy your trip.
