Good Day,
I am a High School teacher at All Saints Cathedral School and I am in need of 5 computer desk chairs for my mini language lab. If anyone has chairs that they are willing to donate please contact me. Thank you!

I'm sorry, but I don't have chairs. I do have a recommendation for you. Try asking for your chairs at http://www.donorschoose.org/ This is a great place for teachers to get help with many of the things they need for the classroom that the budgets won't support. If it's too late for the chairs, keep it in mind for other things you might need.

I don't think donorschoose is available in the VI. I checked with them years ago, and they weren't. Has that changed?

How about sending a notice out to your students parents and our Senators about your need?
It's election time soon so you never know. It's not like they can't afford to buy some chairs since they make great salaries, benefits, and perks while still in office. Maybe, they could find some of the missing $6.9 Million to cough up?

Can we please not ask our government for anything else? If they do buy chairs, they'll take it out of their budgets instead of their salaries and the taxpayers end up paying for them. Also, this is a private school, so taxpayer funds should not go to a private school when the public schools are in such dire need.

You might want to contact the storage facilities like Fortress, etc to see if any are in an upcoming auction. I don't know what all the businesses who fold do with their office equipment, but it must go somewhere. Every now and then someone will post an ad in Island Trader offering office furniture.

You should also try craigslist.org for the USVI. If somebody's selling chairs, they may be willing to donate if you ask.

Also post on freecycle.org for St Thomas if you haven't already.
