does anyone know which cell phone company works on the east end of st. john as well as nyc area. our verizon worked well in cruz bay but not at all on the east end of st. john
Cell phone service is spotty on the east end of St John because of the lack of cell towers. Every company has lousy service out there, that's just the way it is. If you're renting a villa, best to get one with a phone so that you won't have to depend on your cell phone.
I agree - we stayed at Concordia ecotents overlooking Salt Pond Bay, and my Sprint PCS phone would show a signal but I could never get a call to connect. I know I had the most up-to-date software on the phone - had it updated at the local PCS store the day before we left Dallas. Also, ran into a Sprint PCS employee at the Westin while there, who told me they just activated a new tower in the area.
The east end of ST John has a brand new tower which all of the companies use. The cell phone use is and has been for 3 months excellent. If you are using Sprint then that speaks for itself. Maybe you were visiting when the tower was in transition.
Had no problem in December using my Verizon phone from our boat in Coral Bay. Also
did not have any roaming charges this time. I did have them in July. Maybe the new tower has something to do with that.
