Coming for a visit on 5/12...will my US cell phone work in St. Thomas? And if I absolutely have to work (hope not), are there cybercafes in town where I can log in for an hour or so???---Trying to escape

Sprint PCS network is accessible for most of the island, save a few valleys. Cingular also functions. Don't know how your billing will run--check with your provider.
Beans, Bytes & Websites is in downtown Charlotte Amalie, in the Royal Dane Mall (up the alley from Tavern on the Waterfront). Nice people, great coffee/espresso, and fast computers.

B,B&B also has a smaller location (perhaps 5 computers) next to the Greenhouse on Waterfront. But there are no tvs on there, so if work is in order this might suit your needs.

For aditional information on cellphones - go to the Infrastructure Topic of the Moving Guide there is info on cell phone providers in the USVI.

Also there are a couple cyber cafes in Havensight as well.

You might check if your ISP offers an 800 access number. Most 800 numbers that work stateside also work in the VI. I had no problem dialing into Worldnet using their 800 number.

At $0.10 a minute it might be cheaper and more convient to use the phone in your room than making a trip to a cyber cafe particularly if all you want to do is check your e-mail.
