I am travelling to STJ and STT in a week, do either Verizon or Nextel phones work on the islands? Do I need a differant chip set?

verizon works on the western end of st. john ( cruz bay) but not on the east end ( coral bay)
DOES SPRINT CELL SERVICE WORK IN ST, THOMAS??
I use my Verizon phone on our boat in Coral Bay all the time. Works perfectly. At one time all calls from Coral Bay were without any roaming charges while those from Cruz Bay had extra charges. Now there's no roaming fee in either bay.
I ues Sprint on STT, STX and STJ without major interruptions. Only dead spots I've encountered are in the East End of St Thomas.
T-mobile will work but it will show as AT&T. Don't know what the rates are though.
Cingular works on stx and the nation plan has no additional call costs.
I had no trouble with Sprint while in STT. Didn't drop one call and always got a signal. I was all over the island and had no problems. Its also free long distance to the states with no roaming charges.
