*Will my U.S. Verizon cell phone (digital and analog) work while travelling in St. Thomas and St. John?

My husband and I have Verizon and used our cell phone a couple of times during our honeymoon. Once was at the airport in St. Thomas (worked fine) and two other times were on St. John. It worked in our villa, but not when we were grocery shopping in Cruz Bay area. So.....as they say, it depends on where you are as to when you can send and receive calls. Also, there are definitely going to be some sort of roaming charges in the USVI, so I would expect extra charges per call if in fact you do use your phone.

Yes! We just returned from St John and our Verizon worked fine. It only costs 69 cents a minute too. We stayed on the north shore but used our fones in Cruz Bay too. You do have to move around a little to get a signal.
I called Verizon before leaving just to tell them we'd be using our fones down there. Dunno if they flagged our account, but we had no trouble.
Did the same with AmEx too, as we'd been in Mexico w/o telling them and had trouble charging things.
Have a blast.
