I have Cingular service and when I called to inquire about the cost of service on the Island, I was told that calls to the States are free!. Anyone know if this is true? From what I have read on this forum, calls are very expensive to the States..
Weary, I almost posted that exact same thought when I typed my last message. There will be times when I will need to use my phone, but there won't be any times when I want to use it.
I have no idea when we became dependent on them, but it is nice to have that peace of mind that if there is an emergency, my family will be able to get in touch with me no matter where I am. I am a worry-wart, and that really helps me not worry about what's happening back home.
I agree with Chris at Work but.......
I was on St John in April, used my cell phone with Verizon service to call family in PA, and was not charged any extra fees. It may depend on what type of plan that you have. I used my phone only from the Cruz Bay area if that makes a difference in what tower it passes thru.
I have Cingular, and when we were on STT in June, I was the only one in the family group with this provider, so everyone was using my phone. Cingular had told me that the calls would be free, and sure enough, no roaming charges or anything, just as though I'd been calling next door here at home.
