I want to get married in a Roman Catholic ceremony on January 15, 2005, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Approximately 25 family members will be attending, ranging in age from 83 to 1. As I have never been to the islands, I am looking for advice on which island to stay on, accommodations, Catholic churches, and reception sites. Any other wedding information, such as information on wedding planners, photographers, etc., would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
There is a stunningly beautiful Catholic Cathedral in downtown St. Thomas. It is in close proximity to the waterfront .....a short stroll. You could even plan to get married there and then walk to the waterfront for a reception on a boat....a sunset dinner cruise.
Where exactly is the Catholic Cathedral located? I'm only familiar with the one up by the round-about (OLOPH)
Thanks!

Sts. Peter and Paul Church is located on Main Street about 2 blocks west of Market Square.
Hello Linda,
Catholic Churches are
The Holy Family Church (340)775-1650 located in Tutu; Our Lady of Perpetual Help (340)774-0885 located in Mafolie; Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral (340)774-0201 located in Charlotte Amalie and St. Anne's (340)714-1101 located in Frenchtown.
What sort of price range are you looking for, for the hotel; does everyone want to stay at the same place?

Thank you, everyone, for your help with this. In response to Islander, my fiance' and I are looking to pick up the tab for three days of accommodations for all of our guests since they will have to bear the cost of getting to the island, so we are looking for something nice, but we probably can't afford the Ritz Carlton.
We do not need to have everyone stay at the same place, although having everyone in close proximity may make things easier. If you have any recommendations, that would be great. John and I are very open to any suggestions.
Thanks again! I know our wedding will be beautiful!
Linda, I'm not Catholic, but my daughter is and was married in the Church. I think, before you plan too much, you should contact the priest of whatever church to pick to see if what you're planning is possible.
Before my daughter was married in her parish church, she and her fiance had to attend pre-Cana counseling at the church for 4 or 6 weeks. I'm not sure you can arrange a Catholic ceremony form long distance.
But I could be wrong.
Hello Linda J - your advice is good, definately folks should contact the church to confirm necessary requirements and dates!! It is possable to plan a Catholic Church ceremony in the USVI from away and they do require the marriage counseling sessions. What you must do is contact the priest and find out what is needed exactly (ie. baptism papers for the bride and groom saying the person is Catholic, certificate of completeling marriage classes ect.) and then you can make arrangements with your local parish to attend marriage counseling there and get a certificate to take to the priest in the USVI.
Linda - If you need nice but less expensive you might look at www.emeraldbeach.com
If you quiet and pretty location you might try Secret Harbor. Elysian Resort might be another work trying. www.extraholidays.com
You may find it better to rent to large villas rather then 15+ rooms at a resort. Check that option out at www.mclaughlinanderson.com
