My wife and I will be in St. John for a week. I am wondering how much cash I will need versus using a credit card. Do most restaurants and shops take credit cards? Any popular ones that do not?

Thanks!

We usually take a couple/few hundred in cash and come home with a chunk of it. Despite the fact that I probably still use cash more than many people do. Most restaurants/shops/markets take credit cards (as you might expect, a lot fewer take AMEX). Mostly small, local places take cash only. Some places you might not think to bring cash for: taxis, ferry, gas stations. If you run out, there are ATMs---usually, but not always reliable.
