Only 7 more days to go!!!! One of the last things on my list, should we bring cash , travelers checks or do most places use credit cards?
It is US currency right? So there are no extra charges on the credit cards bills? First time to the VI
Vias and MC are pretty well accepted although many places do not take credit cards. Travelers checks are universally accepted. Remember, we have ATM's here.
Enjoy your stay.

Do people still use travelers checks? I thought ATMs and credit cards had made them a thing of the past. I haven't personally seen or heard of anyone using them in the past 8 or 10 years, and I never see them advertised any more.
Now now I am old but yes travelers checks are still used.
Travelers checks are still used but I've read that some places are a little reluctant to take them due to that they can be conterfeited a bit easily. We have had no problems. We usually take a mix of tchecks, ccards, and ATM PIN. We usally take a wad of one dollar bills though...for tips. I don't want to get out of the cab, water taxi, or whatever with only twentys.
Travelers checks are accepted but anything over a 50 is hard to cash at a lot of places. And do take 30 ones. You seem to hand them out like water and it's nice to have them readly available.
