Will the upcoming carnival on STJ add alot more traffic and people to the island? If so, is it mainly in town, or do the beaches get more crowded also?

Hello Deb,

Mainly in town during events like the opening of the village and live bands performing there, food fair, parade.

Sounds like fun! Do the bands play only during the day or is there more live entertainment at night during Carnival?

As someone who rented a villa near Cruz Bay last year (Contant Point), I can tell you that the live music also takes palce in the evening. We would sit out by the pool at night and listen to the live music coming up from Carnival Village.

Hello Deb,

The bands play during the night in the village. Many of the events are nighttime. Daytime you have foodfair (which usually has a steel pan band & entertainment during part of it) & parade (live music during the parade) & beach jam & bike race and thats about it.

Is carnival village set up at the town square? We are staying harbour side at Gallows Point. Will we be able to hear the bands from our balcomy? This sounds like fun, but.......will we be kept up all hours of the night? (I have my ear plugs packed.)

Hello Deb,

Not sure if by town square you are refering to the little park. If so, no. That's where the Food Fair is situated around though.

The Village is set up in the parking lot (food/drink booths, bandstand) and ball field (kids rides). The ballfield is by the National Park Vistor Center and the parking lot is accross from the post office.

Have a good time.
