Considering traveling to St Thomas 2007 during the first part
of Carnival Events. Is it safe to take children to view the
parades??. Are visitors and locals sober or is it more like
New Orleans Mardi Gra, with a alot of risque behavior?? I've
never been to a "Carnival" on any of the islands.

The two parades are at the very end of Carnival- usually Friday and Saturday the end of April. No, it is not like New Orleans. There will be rum available, but very family friendly.
