Who will be there? Anyone know the parade schedule?

I missed last year's so I don't know if Jam Band still comes through on the truck selling CDs. Do they?

Promoguy, you going?

I know the schedule is out there, I just don't have one at my fingertips at the moment. Festival kicks off with Pan o Rama this Saturday. The parade is on July 4, of course, and from what I've heard Alison Hinds is playing that night in Festival Village. Last year was my first carnival here and I don't remember Jam Band selling CDs from their truck, but I was all over the place the day of the parade so it's possible I missed them.

Hello Bluwater!

We will arrive to STJ the 4th of July (first timer) and hope we will bee there early enough to see the parade which should start 11.00 am in Cruz Bay at the National Park Visitor Center and winds through Cruz Bay. And we will definitely see the firework 9.00 pm.

I know there will also be some fun early in the morning before the parade, but at that time we are on STT.

linne,

I wouldn't worry about Carnival starting on time at 11am. Remember, this IS the islands....."on time" is not in the vocab.

My experience has been that the parade starts a couple of hrs late.

I have in all my years of visiting at carnival time, I have never, ever, never, ever seen the parade start at 11.00 sharp. For those who have never seen the parade think Macy's day parade.......................well, okay don't.

I'm glad to hear that we will be able to see the parade even though we perhaps will arrive later than 11.00 am.

Promoguy, what means "bells on your toes" ? Is that a special phrase for something else or do we really need to look at
peoples toes??

Linne, that is very funny. It's just a stupid phrase coming from a stupid man. It kind of means really happy to be there for the parade.

Also, if you'd like to see pictures from the parade, go to pbase.com/promoguy101 I have a bunch of them for a couple of years.

I agree that tipping is confusing in the USofA. I lived in Germany for 8 years and I loved the "Bedienung und Mehrvertsteuer (tax) inklusive" if change was a few pfennings you left them. Here we have the add the tip and the nice people are nice to add the tax separately. Although on the USVI's there is no tax on the meal.

Linne, Bells on toes is from an English nursery rhyme about the queen wearing bells on the tips of her pointed shoes. I laugh at the tought of Promoguy at the STJ parade with pointed shoes with bells on the tips (hilarious). But, I've seen worse in Cruz Bay.

Promo, if you see me, please wave. I suspect you and RL will be incognito again...behind dark shades....chillin'...trying not to attract any attention.

Promo's shoes....only the bells are missing.

Okay, now I again learn something new, and I am glad that it is not necessary to go around and look down for bells.

Promoguy has pretty legs according to the picture!

Linne, those aren't my legs. Just pictures of the parade. If you go to the pictures you might see some of my body parts.

Of course it is not your legs. I just tried to be funny like you. And I have seen your pictures earlier when I had questions myself about the carnival, and you were so kind to tell me about it.

Pia
Thank you for the information about neat sheet. Now I know that I have to find them in another place.
