*We have a trip planned to St. Croix during the first week in July. Is there an economical way to take a day trip to St John for the Carnival? Who offers this service? What town should we head to for the best Carnival experience? Thanks for your help.

You will find more by clicking the "St. John" link above and going to "Activities", then to the cultural segment by scrolling down, but it's easy as pie to get to Cruz Bay, where all the St. John ferries go.

You may catch the St. John ferry from Red Hook or the waterfront, downtown Charlotte Amalie. They run later from Red Hook, 11pm. At Carnival time, there is always a ferry back to St. Thomas following events which all take place within walking distance of the ferry dock at Cruz Bay.

There is a "Ferry Schedules" link at the very top of the page, towards the right.

You would fly over to St. Thomas and then make your way to St. John. Unfortunately, ferry service to St. John does not exist from St. Croix, which is 40 miles to the south of St. Thomas.

There is a ferry running from STX to STT now that you can take and then take the downtown to STJ for the Celebration of the 4th of July.

I thought the new ferry service was not quite set up yet? Is it running now? The web site for Island Lynx still just shows a few February dates.
You can take the sea plane called Seaborne Airlines. This option was out of our budget. Here is the link:

It is running. Not the big boat that was promised but a good sized one nevertheless.
