We have a question for the local residents. Our party will be staying in a villa the 30th of april to the seventh of may when the carnival is still in session. I have reviewed to carnival's website and schedule of events. It does'nt appear any of the events would cause any traffic problems and we were just checking to see if there are any closures or rerouting of traffic during that week. We have not recieved any advisories from villa management or rental car agencies. We do hope to observe some of the events as they look like a good time.
Thanks for any helpful information.

Main St is closed during the children and adult parades, but that's about it. Where is your villa?

On Fri and Sat during the parades traffic is totally banned from crossing Along the Parade route from early morning until it is well over. The route is from Western cemetery to Lionel Roberts stadium.
Many restaurants do close during the latter part of Carnival - it is too hard to get deliveries and many people have off -- Most all Govt offices will be closed a lot from Wed AM until Mon 5/9
Traffic will be congested along the Waterfront by the Village each evening.
The Fort parking Lot is where the Village location is so all parking in town will be very limited all week
, many of the streets around the Village are blocked off all week too.
Make sure you call any restaurants that you may want to visit. Some grocery stores may be on limited hours as well.
It is unlikely you will get any 'advisories' from the rental car company - most visitors that week are here for Carnival - depending on where the Villa is located you may have very little impact OR if it is above town you will be very aware of the traffic problems and the music late into the night from the Stadium and the the Village.
