Hello Message Board!
My name is Calvern Williams. I was a contestant for the title of VI Carnival King during our island's 50Th Anniversary of Carnival celebration. I currently live in Elko, NV and it's been quite some time since I've graced the beaches of home. I have been browsing the web for pictures of the contestants. This search has been less that fruitful. In the ignorance of my youth, I failed to realize the potential joy something like that would bring me in my later years. Call it nostalgia or call it a yearning for home or my youth, but I was wondering if a poster or pictures of the contestants were ever saved. I have been unsuccessful in contacting the Carnival Committee on this matter, and this is what I would consider one of my last resorts. If there was any way anyone could assist me in this matter, I would be most grateful and willing to pay a monetary sum for these items.

In need of assistance,
Calvern Williams

there is a facebook page with an active group of VI people ' everything and anything virgin islands' you should try and check that out with the same question.
Hugo in 1989 took a tremendous toll on the historical documents, pictures, and mementos of VI.

The VI Carnival website is updated each year with the current year's information and images. You can however pull up an archived version of the 2002 website and it contains photos of the Queen contestants, try VI Carnival 2002 Queens. It does not appear to have photos of the King contestants, a later update has a photo of the King only: 2002 Queen/King.

Do you remember which photo studio or photographer they used for getting the formal photos of the contestants?

Have you tried contacting some of the other contestants to see if they have photos?

Best bet for getting in touch with the Carnival Committee is calling them. 😉
