Our connecting airline in San Juan is Caribean Sun. I haven't used them before and we only have 1 hour to connect from American and check in again. Has anyone had any problems? I am really glad for all the information I am getting from this board. Thanks!

I have a neighbor on Water Island who worked as a ticket & gate agent for American Airlines for years. She mentioned that Caribbean Sun was "taking over" some AA flights and/or AA was subcontracting some AA flights from San Juan to STT. Last year, during off-season, we booked through AA a flight from TPA to San Juan>Caribbean Sun to STT. It was all the "same" to us. We just walked to the appropriate CSA gate, checked in just fine, picked up our bags in STT just fine. San Juan isn't that big an airport so I wouldn't think you'd have any trouble....no worries.

Off/topic note: The restaurant food and service is lousy and pricey in the San Juan airport. I expect airport food to be pricey but most of the time a person can find reasonable service and decent food. IMHO, you won't get that at San Juan Airport. Bring a sandwich/snack with you.

Copied the following from their website http://www.flycsa.com/

Caribbean Sun Airlines flies daily between San Juan Puerto Rico and Antigua, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Tortola. Its inaugural flight, from San Juan to Tortola, took place on January 21, 2003. As the newest commercial airline providing inter-island travel in the Caribbean region, the Caribbean Sun name is quickly becoming synonymous with high standards of service, on-time arrivals and a commitment to safety and comfort.

The airline's fleet consists of four DeHavilland Dash 8 aircraft of the 100 series, serviced by Caribbean-based air and ground crews.

Caribbean Sun Airlines, Inc. is affiliated with the Stanford Financial Group, whose Chairman and CEO, R. Allen Stanford, has a widely-known affinity for the Caribbean and its business potential. For nearly two decades, Mr. Stanford has been instrumental in developing major businesses in Antigua, St. Kitts and other Caribbean nations. Among them are Stanford International Bank, Stanford Trust Company, Bank of Antigua, Antigua Sun and Sun Newspapers, Stanford Development Company, Sun Printing & Publishing, and Caribbean Sun's sister airline, Caribbean Star.
