Just got off the phone with Caribbean Sun Airlines and made my "reservation". The operator was very polite but spoke poor english. She was able to give me the flights I wanted and "reserved" my flight but told me that that I needed to "purchase" the tickets at the Caribbean Sun counter as soon as I got to San Juan on my layover.
Anyone have any experience with this process?? It does not seem that I have a "reservation", but rather a "hold" on my seats. We have a 6:45am flight so I doubt it will be oversold, but I just thought this whole thing seemed kind of odd.

Hi -- we went through this process back in December. It was strange for us too since we are airline employees and used to having tickets up front. It worked out just fine. The only thing I would suggest is that you try to have carry on bags. They managed to lose ours on a 20 min. flight and I have never recovered the expenses. Have a good trip.
How do you lose luggage on a 20-min flight?? Makes me think twice about taking a suitcase though. We are only going for 5 days so I will see if we can manage with just carry-on's and maybe a back-pack. Are there overhead compartments to stow carry-ons? Or is all "checked" baggage on these small planes?
Thanks,
Eric
Over the past 15 years we have been all over the Caribbean. As it turns out we have always had American Eagle island connections.
We have only had baggage problems one time.... And that was on a flight to Virgin Gorda through Tortola.
ALL of our other American Eagle flights within the Caribbean have been without problems. Period...
Our only recent baggage problem was with British Airways to New Delhi India (through Heathrow). They managed to lose our luggage for almost a week.
