Hi Everyone!

I need help! We are taking our two year old with us to St. Thomas on the 16th of June. What are the rules as far as car seats go? Do we need to take ours with us? Actually, should we take it on the inside of the plane with us etc.

Thanks bunches,

🙂 Christina

The rental companies usually have them. You should check.

We just returned from a weeks vacation with our children and our 2 year old grandson. We took his car seat and sent it with our luggage. we just strapped him into the airline seat, which he thought was great. we then picked our luggage and car seat at the airport. I'm not aware of any legal issues concerning car seats, you will not be able to use it in the taxi's. But if you are going to rent a car, definitely take it.

hi! we took our almost 2 year old with us recently, and we brought the car seat. Really could have gone without! We used taxis ( Dollar Man) whenever we went anywhere. If you are renting a car, it would be great, though! We have the sit n stroll stroller. It is a car seat that has a handle and wheels that POP out of the bottom to make it a stroller. It was AWFUL for the bumpy streets of St. Thomas, but GREAT for the airport. We are taking it with us to Las Vegas in 2 weeks, so hopefully the roads will be better. But it was a God Send at the airports, and the flight!

We opted for a car rental from dependable on st stomas. They pickup/dropoff at the airport and have free car seats for your vehicle. With all the other stuff we are bringing for our little one, 1 less thing to lug around is a godsend.

Take your car seat!!!. Use it on the plane, this is a SAFETY issue. Children who are not restrained in the plane are at a huge risk should the plane encounter turbulance. Yes, I know it's rare, but do you want to be the one who's child is slammed into the overheads because he was on your lap when the plane dropped? If you can't afford the cost of the seat for your child, don't risk it.

I'm the mother of a 3.5 year old daughter, and we've been flying with her since she was six months old (her first flight was to STJ). We always, ALWAYS, buy her her own seat and take our car seat. Plus, she's most comfortable in her own car seat.

Just my opinion, of course.
