Amalie and Dependable are top rated by visitors. Budget can be rather "iffy" and there have been numerous complaints over the years about reserved cars not being available along with some questionable "bait and switch" tactics. Many people rent from them consistently with no problems but they do garner more negative reviews than their competitors so just be forewarned.

The majority of my guests use Dependable and Budget. They haven't had any issues with the service or the rental cars.

Avoid Discount Car Rental on St Thomas unless you like buying new tires for their vehicles. Ask me how I know.

We are visiting in January, spending five nights in STJ and two in STT. We rented a car through Budget, but there are two different sites (and rates) for this. I booked at http://budgetstt.com/ rather than just at budget.com, and I got a lower rate. I hope it works out ok.
