*We are going to St. Thomas during our kids school break - 2/17-2/24, which I assume is very busy time. If we want to rent a car, do you recommend in advance online from home, or is it possible to decide when we get there and rent a car for just a day or two- will any be available? We have a 2 year old, so not sure if renting for whole week would be worth it...also, anyone know the cost of the ferry to downtown from Frenchmans? Thanks everyone!!

Chris, Your best bet is to get a car rented ASAP and online works. Use (STT) for your airport base. You will be probably hard pressed to find any deals at this late hour. Still you can always cancel or return car early if not needed. I have been in islands before and heard people lament on no cars being available. Your time frame is bigtime busy as most school districts are out then. Good Luck!

Hello Chris,

Frenchman's Reef Resort - CA ferry: Last I checked (early last year) it was $5.00 each way for adults and $3.00 for children between the ages of 3-12. Children under 2 years ride for free.
