Hello all!
Can anyone recommend a safe and reliable car rental on St. John?
Also, a recommendation for a quick lunch take away once we arrive on St. Thomas along the way to the ferry. Not interested in having fast food lunches. We will have luggages and two young children in tow.
Many thanks!
Kaya
Its not real sexy, but there is a Subway in Red Hook within walking distance of the Ferry Terminal. You could just have the cab driver drop one of you there, go in and get some sandwiches to go and the other one could ride on over to the ferry get a porter and get the bags in the terminal. There also is a little bar in the new ferry terminal but I don't know if they have any food. All of this is assuming you are using the Red Hook Ferry?

Marina Market is right across the street from the Red Hook ferry terminal and has an excellent deli section with sandwiches, etc.
I agree with STT...they will make you sandwiches fresh and the ferry is right across the street.
If you want something on St. John, there is the Grotto Deli which has great sandwiches too.
More convenient though to go to Marina Market.
I would actually have to say STT got it better than I did. It also wouldn't hurt to grab a few basics for the Villa while your at the market. You might get to stay out of the Grocery store on St John till the next day that way.

There is also Burrito Bay, Yummy! This is located in Red Hook as well and close to the Ferry!
We used Courtesy Car Rental in July and were very pleased with their service and our vehicle. It is withing walking distance of the ferry dock, and you can park in their lot while in Cruz Bay.
We used St. John Car Rental in October, and we had no problems with them. We had a pretty new Jeep and they were very helpful.
Wow, thanks for your great suggestions! We went with Denzil Clyne's car rental and will probably grab food from the market at Red Hook. I appreciate it!
kaya: "To go" is very popular. You can go to any restaurant and ask for items to be packaged if you don't want sandwiches.
